Ben Griffin

1. Tell Us a little about yourself

My name is Ben! I grew up in the Wagga Wagga, but have now been living in Canberra
for about 10 years (can’t believe it’s been that long!), I came here for University and
never left. I love pretty much all sport, tragic Roosters supporter (NRL)! I have pretty well
played rugby league my whole life (currently playing for the Yass Magpies, in the
Canberra Raiders Cup), as well as touch football! In my down time, I like to try to get
away with friends as much as possible, camping/fishing or anything along those lines!

2. What attracted you to the fitness industry?

Growing up I loved sport, still do! I was never the most athletically gifted player, never
the biggest or the fastest, but I was always determined to do whatever I could to try and
get the most out of myself (and of course improve my overall health). Once I found out I
could improve my sporting performance through the use of strength training, I became
obsessed and have been ever since!
I know when I was growing up, there wasn’t really anywhere for athletes (unless you
were an elite level athlete) to go to receive strength and conditioning training specifically
tailored to help improve their sporting performance. I want to help change that by
providing individualised and structured strength and conditioning coaching to athletes of
all levels!
My passion for helping people achieve their goals is of course not limited to athletes! I
get just as big of a buzz helping someone achieve his or her general fitness goals as I
do trying to help someone run faster or jump higher!

3. What are your interests in the industry? 

Strength and conditioning for athletes of all levels

  • In 2017, I completed a 3-month Strength and Conditioning Internship, with

the University of South Carolina Football team. The standard of strength
and conditioning coaching provided to athletes in the U.S.A is world class,
I want to use what I have learnt and help raise the standard of strength
and conditioning coaching provided to athletes in Australia.

Mid to end stage rehabilitation

  •  I am an Exercise Physiologist and have experience working in rehabilitation 

4. How can you help people achieve their goals?

I have worked with people of all backgrounds and ages, from young kids, to the elderly,
through to Division 1 College athletes! Through my experience, I feel I am able to relate
to people and their goals! Any change has to be self-initiated and goals can only be
achieved through consistent hard work, but if the individual is willing to put in the effort, I
will do my best to help them achieve their goals!
