1. Tell us a little about yourself?
Born and bred in Christchurch, New Zealand I am a proud Kiwi but now equally proud to call Canberra home! I came to Canberra via Perth (and a few months in Sydney) with my now wife - Tegan. I love the outdoors and especially the beach. Both Tegan and I enjoy getting out and enjoying the outdoors, socialising with friends and family and keeping active!
2. What attracted you to the fitness industry?
The fitness industry came on my radar after a couple of years at University back in Christchurch. I found myself being drawn to the fitness/sporting life and decided that it would make a more suitable career for me than following an Arts degree that had no clear outcomes! At the time I was playing rugby and loved the training so it seemed a natural progression.
3. What are your particular interests in the industry?
I enjoy all aspects of the industry but I have a particular interest in strength and conditioning. I love all the different aspects of the strength and conditioning world - the power lifts, olympic lifts, gymnastics, body weight movements as well as aerobic and anaerobic work. I believe this space in the industry is the future as part of a holistic outlook that includes conversations around nutrition and lifestyle.
4. How can you help people achieve their goals?
I have a holistic out look on health and fitness and like to help my clients find what it is in the fitness world it is that they enjoy. If they are able to enjoy what they do then committing to a process (which is essential to achieving your goals) becomes so much easier. I believe training should be about fun, self development and discipline. Achieving a goal that is truely for yourself is extremely rewarding.
